February 28, 2009 - The Camp Quality Puppet program is an educational program where life-size puppets visit elementary schools and help children realize the importance of being supportive and caring of other children who have serious illnesses, such as cancer. The puppeteers are all volunteers and provide performances free of charge.
The Camp Quality Puppet Program was developed to ease the return of children suffering from cancer back into the school environment. Children with cancer and other serous illnesses often experience difficulties upon their return to school after treatment, primarily because they have changed in appearance either through losing their hair due to chemotherapy, or a limb due to the cancer itself.
The goals of the Puppet Program align with our Catholic monthly virtues that are celebrated with the students of St. Francis School. The monthly virtues of respect, courage, wisdom, faith etc… are teachings that develop children’s moral character. We, at St. Francis school highlight the teachings of our Catholic vision statement, Encouraging life-long learning, individuality and respect through God’s Love. The Puppets, Sophie, Natalie, Matt and Jack visited St Francis Catholic School.
